6 Useful Apps for Travel

We are all very fortunate to be alive in this time and use the modern advanced technology to help us in our daily life, including if your lifestyle includes travel!

Download and use these with Android and iPhone (or othre iOS device)

Mapping:

Maps.Me - offline maps with trails and details

Google Maps - listings of businesses, directions, attractions and reviews of all the places.

Google Photos - free unlimited photo and video back to your gmail (can access online at photos.google.com) bonus to use the location GPS on your camera gives the ability to search your photos by location!

Accommodation:

Agoda - specially in South East Asia and Asia, very good for booking and finding cheap places for accommodation. Note: owned by booking.com but still I find agoda has better deals and user interface.

CouchSurfing - Sign up and fill out your account if you don't have one already. useful for making connections in various places, they can help you find local places and sometimes they can offer you a place to stay!

Communication:WhatsApp - Useful for texting and calling when internet is slow, but need to verify by SMS so choose a phone number you memorized and can keep from someone else getting it (which means they can verify the SMS and take over your account).

Facebook Messanger - useful as whatsapp but better because you can access it anywhere with browser or phone without needing to verify with SMS as whatsapp.

Bonus apps:
Kayak, Skyscanner, Google Trips - flight lookup (normally can book directly with the airline website)
Cleartrip for train schedules in India

Other useful:
Weather
Calculator
Google Calendar and Google Keep - for notes (both sync with gmail)

Apps I use:
Strava - for cycling and running, uses GPS.
SoundHound - to fetch song name and artist by listening to what is playing.
Translator - useful with all languages that google has.
